Registration Open for FCPS Science and Social Studies Fairs!
Frederick County Public Schools is excited to announce the March 2025 Elementary and Secondary Science and Engineering Fairs, and the Elementary Social Studies Fair. This year, the Elementary and Secondary fairs will be held on two different dates but at the same location: Tuscarora High School 5312 Ballenger Creek Pike Frederick, MD 21703.

Middle and High School Divisions: The Secondary Frederick County Science and Engineering Fair takes place Saturday, March 22, 2025 with judging from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and is open to visitors from 3:00-4:00 PM, with an awards ceremony beginning at 4:00 PM. The Elementary (PreK-5) Science and Social Studies Fair takes place Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Registration for the Elementary Science and Social Studies Fair closes March 21, 2025. A STEM Showcase is open for visitors with interactive, hands-on activities and demonstrations.

Attention Juniors!
SAT School Day is March 19th (7:30 AM to approximately 11:00 AM)
*** All 11th grade students will have the opportunity to take the SAT (for free) at FHS on March 19th. These students should attend the pre-registration session listed below, by their last name, on Wednesday, March 5th. The pre-registration sessions will be in the cafeteria, and students will need their FCPS Chromebook.
- 1st block – Last name A-F
- 2nd block – Last name G-M
- 4th block – Last name N-Z
Students who aren’t at FHS during their designated time may attend any other pre-registration session.
PREPARING FOR THE SAT:
- The SAT School Guide for Students from College Board is available here.
- Information about preparing for the digital SAT: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/practice
- College Board Account: In order to receive score reports and access practice tests, students must set up a College Board student account using a personal email account (NOT FCPS email). Visit https://account.collegeboard.org/login/signUp to set up a College Board account.
- Once students have a College Board account, they can login to the Bluebook App (found in the Apps section of their FCPS Chromebook) to access SAT practice tests.
- Scores are available 2-4 weeks after test day and will be available online by logging into College Board accounts.
- Testing rooms will be posted on the cafeteria windows by March 17th. Staff will also have a copy of this list.
What to Bring On Test Day:
- Fully Charged FCPS Chromebook
- Snack/drink for break
- Calculators are part of the testing platform but you may bring an approved calculator from this list if you prefer
